Joely & David - Wedding Highlights

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Joely & David met in college - she was from the capital region and he was from Long Island.  After they graduated they stayed together and maintained a long distance relationship until Joely decided to pack up her things and move to Long Island…and the rest is history.

On May 1st, Joely & David were married.  They decided to do a “first look” and their formal photos before the ceremony and brought in Joe & JP Elario to capture the moments (check out the photos here).  It was so hot that day - like 85 degrees - which seems like nothing after this weeks weather, but it was very hot for a few weeks ago.  After the photos the bridal party headed inside to cool down, relax and cheer on their favorite horses in the Kentucky Derby.  The ceremony soon followed and before we knew it the couple was being introduced as husband and wife to all their family and friends by the fabulous New York Players.  It was a great beginning to an amazing party that lasted until the wee hours of the morning.  Congratulations Joely & David!

Michelle & Zach - Wedding Highlights

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

“There will be Spice Girls!” Other than her dress and her music selections, Michelle wasn’t really sure what everything was going to look like and how it was going to come together since she had planned her wedding long distance from Georgia where Zach is stationed. Well, she didn’t need to worry - it was beautiful.

When I arrived on the day of the wedding, the girls were hanging out, playing video games and checking statuses on FB - just waiting to get dressed.  Right before it was time to go, Michelle presented her mother with a locket that she had put her grandmother’s photo inside so that she would be with them that day (yes, there were tears). The ceremony was short and sweet, and neither Zach nor Michelle could stop smiling at each other. It’s so cool to watch people in love on their wedding day - the excitement of the big day, the anticipation of their life together - very cool.  Anyway, after the photo session the party started. Vinny from Cool Cat Entertainment got the crowd revved up starting with the introductions and they kept it going all night.  There was an awesome bouquet and garter toss - with the lucky catchers already dating each other, there was a breakdancer, balcony dancers and even a Spice Girls song thrown in for the bride. :) An awesome party to celebrate their first hours as husband and wife.  Congratulations Michelle & Zach!

Keri & Darren - Wedding Highlights

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Creating these blog entries doesn’t come easy for me - sometimes taking longer to write than to create the highlight video that goes along with it.  This one is going to be easy though as I’m going to let Darren write most of it.  As I was getting ready to put this together, I stumbled across a blog that he wrote about a little ode he had written to Keri that he was going to share at the wedding, but never got to it (it’s amazing how fast the day really goes by once it starts).  I’ve picked out some of my favorite parts to share here.

I just want to say a few words about my beautiful, brand-spanking new wife. Keri and I had our first date 2 years, 2 months, and 2 weeks ago from this very day. And I knew very early on, I had stumbled upon something special.

In fact, I remember one day, no more than a couple of months into our relationship, getting ready with Keri to go out and I found myself just staring at her for a few moments before eventually blurting out ‘How in the world did I get so lucky to have found you?”

“No seriously,” I asked, “how in the world have you stayed single long enough so that I could find you?!?”

I mean, here was this incredibly smart, extremely sexy and cool girl. Sensitive and sweet – with just enough spice and even a touch of the occasional vinegar to keep things interesting. Pretty and funny – not only appreciating my own sense of humor, which is tough enough, but also constantly making me laugh. And it all came bundled in this one little enticing skinny package!
 ……
It was just always so easy to envision Keri as my wife because she is exactly what i’ve always pictured when I thought about my life in this stage.

And the more I think about my original question – “How in the world did you stay single long enough so that I could find you? – the more I wonder if the answer is not just that relationships are hard, but that perhaps, this is the only way it could have possibly been.

That it, and us, and today were always going to be. Had to be.

And I am just so happy and thankful right now, so excited about our future … and I love you very, very much!

Every groom should write something so perfect for his new bride - don’t you think? Before I get to the video, I would like to mention a couple of things that helped make this day memorable (aside from Keri & Darren, of course):

  • Broken Bones - my second groom in a cast this year (2009)
  • My Hero - Chad’s “My Brother is My Hero” toast - awesome!
  • Thriller - how many times do you get to see a 91 year old dancing to the Michael Jackson hit?
  • Karaoke - Darren sang - altering the lyrics to the Neil Diamond song from Sweet Caroline to Sweet Keri Lyn
  • And, some great vendors to work with at the beautiful Canfield Casino: Brett Deutsch (NYC photographer), Saratoga PhotoboothClasse Catering

Keri & Darren - Thanks for taking a chance on me!

Chrissy & Mike - Wedding Highlights

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Most weddings usually do not start right on time.  Chrissy & Mike’s wedding was no exception.  However, even with the late start everything turned out fine in the end (it usually does).

Chrissy & Mike’s ceremony and reception both took place at the Colonie Golf & Country Club.  The ceremony was short and sweet, yet very emotional.  Chrissy’s father gave her the longest hug I think I’ve ever seen a father give his daughter and Chrissy actually had to take a minute during her vows to collect herself to be able to continue.

Afterwards, photos were taken outside with the golf course and an amazing sky in the background (photographer: Patty Rorick).  Inside, the sky provided some fantastic light for the first dance as Sal from Preemo DJ got the party started.

Chrissy & Mike met at a Dave Matthews Band concert at SPAC back in 2001 so their highlight video is set to a DMB tune of course.

Feel free to leave comments for the happy couple.  Enjoy!

Julie & Kory - Wedding Highlight Video

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

OK, here we go - the first of the 2009 videos!

Julie & Kory were married on a chilly, windy day in April, but it was still perfect. It started at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church where guests were greeted by a bagpiper as they arrived. Julie’s three brothers took turns walking her down the aisle as Kory anxiously awaited. In the video, you can see the best man remind Kory to breathe as Julie walks towards him. After the ceremony, there were some pictures and some mingling with guests outside. Julie is a kindergarten teacher and her students were at the ceremony watching from the balcony (you can spot them in the video) - she had a special treat waiting for all of them and she and Kory had their picture taken with them afterwards.

The reception was held at the Albany Country Club, which has a wall of windows that provided us with great lighting for the first dance. Kory’s mom handmade a special quilt for the couple and had the guests sign it with best wishes – something I’m sure they will treasure always. There was a candy bar (love those!), dancing, more dancing and even some more dancing. Julie and Kory did the dollar dance with a line you wouldn’t believe and donated all the money to the American Cancer Society. Afterwards, the party really started and the dance floor stayed packed for the rest of the night – lots of times overflowing right off the dance floor. We also got to see and chat with one of our 2008 couples at the wedding – Kim & John (thanks for the referral!).

Here is their Highlight Video. Congratulations Julie & Kory!

Enjoy!

Yvonne & Joseph - Photo Session

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

One of the things I try to capture at each wedding is the photo session with the photographer. Not only do I get great shots of smiling faces, but I also get the “befores” and the “afters”. It’s the moments right “before” and right “after” the photographer takes a picture that makes good video.

This is one of my favorite photo sessions from last year from Yvonne & Joesph’s wedding last November. Yvonne had the best sense of humor and she and Joe made each other laugh the whole time. Actually I think Yvonne is laughing in almost every section of this clip. This is how a bride and groom should be on their wedding day - able to just go with the flow and enjoy the moments. This clip starts at the end of their ceremony and covers the photo sessions at the church and at Birch Hill.

Enjoy!
