Jismi & Johny Highlights - Glen Sanders

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

On a beautiful day in September, I met up with Jismi at her parent’s house as she was getting the finishing touches on her make-up done.  There was excitement and laughter in the air as her bridesmaids took over and helped Jismi into her dress.  Soon afterwards, family members started arriving for the blessing and prayers and to wish the bride well on her day.

Jismi & Johny’s ceremony took place at Blessed Sacrament in Albany where they incorporated Indian traditions into their Catholic ceremony. From there we headed to the Empire State Plaza with Paul & Brenda from Upstate Photographers for a fun photo session with the bridal party, then made our way to Glen Sanders Mansion for the reception.  Once again, Jismi & Johny incorporated traditional elements into their day, including a lamp lighting, feeding of coconut water, dance performances, and speeches before changing into Indian clothing for the rest of the reception.   It was a wonderful day packed full of events, which coordinator Christine Wheat managed with ease.  The DJ (IEDJS) started the party with an amazing dance set and played a great mixture of music all night to keep the dance floor packed.

Jaclyn & Adrian Highlights - Glen Sanders Mansion

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Jaclyn & Adrian were married exactly three months to the day after Jaclyn was the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding (Fallon & JJ). Jaclyn was radiant - and didn’t stop smiling all day long except, of course, when she was crying (first look, ceremony, toasts, father daughter dance, etc.).  They were always happy tears though and that smile always followed.   Some of my favorite parts of the day:

  • Jaclyn & Adrian’s first look
  • One of the bridesmaids pierced her own ears while they were getting ready
  • Jaclyn’s Aunt Carolyn and Adrian’s sister, Karina, singing “Grow Old With Me” during the ceremony (everybody cried)
  • The poem their friend read during the ceremony (everybody cried)
  • The snack bags Jaclyn made up for us.  :)
  • Their friend Drew and his fiancé, Colleen provided the music at the cocktail hour and sang the first dance song, Crazy Love - they were awesome!
  • The toasts - all three were heartfelt and entertaining - and the best man read his from his iPhone
  • The groom’s uncle and cousin performed a salsa dance, then surprised everyone with the routine from the movie Dirty Dancing - more awesomeness!

There is so much more I could list, but I’d rather get to the video where you can see for yourself what a great day it was.

Katelyn & Anthony - Wedding Highlights

Monday, July 5th, 2010

What a wonderful day!  I met up with Katelyn at her parent’s house where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready.  I was greeted by her adorable niece who promptly informed me that she was 3 years old.  Adorable.  Before we knew it Katelyn was on her way downstairs so her father could see her in her dress for the first time.  A few tears later (with make-up still perfect), we headed outside for some photos then made our way to the chapel at Siena College for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the bridal party photos took place on campus.  At one point Katelyn broke out a basketball and she and Anthony posed for some cool action shots.  The reception took place at Glen Sanders Mansion where the tables were decked out in black linens with photographs of Katelyn & Anthony’s dogs displaying the table numbers.  The party started as the introductions were getting underway with the bridal party - including both sets of parents - giving the guests some competition in the noise making department from out in the hallway.  From there it was the place to be that night, and I’m glad we got to be there.

Some things I learned at this wedding:
~ Katelyn loves to laugh - and when she’s with Anthony, she laughs a lot
~ Safety pins can be a bride’s best friend
~ Anthony loves chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes
~ The best man can make half court shots when there is cash up for grabs
~ The dogs aren’t the only… (nevermind - that one stays between me and the guests at the wedding) :)

We got to work with some fabulous vendors at this wedding, including Jessie & Pat from Casey Connell, Flawless by Tina and DJ Fernando - among others listed below.

Make-up: Flawless by Tina
Flowers: Flowers by Pesha
Photography: Casey Connell Photography  (sneak peek)
DJ: Fernando of The Piano Man’s DJ Productions
Venue: Glen Sanders Mansion

P.S.  Katelyn - Congratulations on your induction into the Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame!

Courtney & Jeffrey- Wedding Highlights

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

One of the things I love about weddings is when the couple is really into each other during the day - paying attention to each other, dancing together and lots of kissing. Courtney & Jeff were one of those couples.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect. Courtney & Jeff planned the wedding from out of state and had thought of every detail. The only thing they couldn’t control was the weather - which turned out to be beautiful. The ceremony took place in the historic First Reformed Church of Schenectady in the Stockade, and the reception followed just over the bridge at the Glen Sanders Mansion. Courtney scheduled some extra time between the two which Joe & JP of Joe Elario Photography took advantage of to get some awesome photos (click here to see them). This was our second time working with this duo - in the same weekend no less - and we had a great time - again.

DJ Paul Malo started the party by introducing the new Mr. & Mrs. B.  After the first dance, Courtney’s parents welcomed Jeff into the family by presenting the Red Sox fan with a NY Yankees hat. Jeff thought it would be a good thing to have around when the Sox beat the the Yanks in the playoffs. Hmmm - I wonder where that hat is now. :)

After dinner, Courtney & Jeff surprised everyone with a little Salsa. Not the food - the dance! Courtney changed into a short dress (that was made for spinning in), strapped on her black high heels and she and Jeff heated up the dance floor.  By the end of the night, the high heels were replaced by pink flip flops but Courtney & Jeff were still paying attention to each other, dancing together, and kissing until it was time to say goodnight to their guests.

Here is the highlight video from their September 2009 wedding.  Feel free to leave comments for the happy couple.
