Maria & Elois - Wedding Highlights

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

When I arrived at her parent’s house, Maria was ready - she just had to get into her dress.  She was totally calm.   Then I started filming and the photographers arrived and started shooting.  That’s when it changed - when it hit her that it was really happening.

The ceremony was held at the St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at Siena College.  Maria’s father walked her down the aisle to where Elois (aka Bubba) was waiting for her.   Everything went according to plan and after they were pronounced husband and wife, everyone headed to the Franklin Plaza for the reception.

After a quick nighttime photo session with Matt and Jamaica from Matt Ramos Photography, the party started.  Chris from Cool Cat Entertainment introduced the bridal party and the Franklin Plaza staff lit up the room with sparklers as Maria & Bubba entered the room.  Side notes: Matt worked on his birthday for this wedding - what dedication; and he has already posted some awesome photos from Maria & Bubba’s weddding on his blog - check them out here

Maria decided to put a twist on the bouquet/garter toss tradition.  Instead of inviting up all the single ladies, she had all the married ladies meet on the dance floor.  She tossed the bouquet and the lucky recipient’s husband had to put the garter on her.  They were such good sports - especially for being married for 37 years.  The rest of the night was filled with dancing to current hits, oldies but goodies, and the chicken dance (which was dedicated to Maria’s grandmother).  The night ended to “Last Dance” which started with a group hug on the dance floor and ended with everyone having a great time.

Courtney & Jeffrey- Wedding Highlights

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

One of the things I love about weddings is when the couple is really into each other during the day - paying attention to each other, dancing together and lots of kissing. Courtney & Jeff were one of those couples.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect. Courtney & Jeff planned the wedding from out of state and had thought of every detail. The only thing they couldn’t control was the weather - which turned out to be beautiful. The ceremony took place in the historic First Reformed Church of Schenectady in the Stockade, and the reception followed just over the bridge at the Glen Sanders Mansion. Courtney scheduled some extra time between the two which Joe & JP of Joe Elario Photography took advantage of to get some awesome photos (click here to see them). This was our second time working with this duo - in the same weekend no less - and we had a great time - again.

DJ Paul Malo started the party by introducing the new Mr. & Mrs. B.  After the first dance, Courtney’s parents welcomed Jeff into the family by presenting the Red Sox fan with a NY Yankees hat. Jeff thought it would be a good thing to have around when the Sox beat the the Yanks in the playoffs. Hmmm - I wonder where that hat is now. :)

After dinner, Courtney & Jeff surprised everyone with a little Salsa. Not the food - the dance! Courtney changed into a short dress (that was made for spinning in), strapped on her black high heels and she and Jeff heated up the dance floor.  By the end of the night, the high heels were replaced by pink flip flops but Courtney & Jeff were still paying attention to each other, dancing together, and kissing until it was time to say goodnight to their guests.

Jivon & Anthony - Wedding Highlights

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

“I Gotta Feeling…That tonight’s gonna be a good night”.  That was the theme song for the night - you could hear it blaring from the bridal party’s limo, Jivon and Anthony were introduced to it, and when it played later in the night that’s when things really got wild (think beer shower and crowd surfing groom).

Our day started with bridal prep at Jivon’s parents house where the girls got ready.  Tina from Flawless by Tina was already there doing her magic (I had one of her brides cry five times during the day and her makeup stayed perfect through it all).  Jivon’s makeup even got put to the test early when her bouquet from Worthington Flowers arrived, along with the flowers and note that Anthony sent her (always a good move guys).  And speaking of Anthony, we threw in a little groom prep in this one - I wasn’t there, but from the footage I edited, I would have to guess that none of the guys were the stars of their high school basketball teams. ;)

The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church in Waterford where Anthony’s emotions got the better of him for a few moments and Jivon couldn’t help but follow up the kiss with a big “Wooo!”.   There was extra time between the ceremony and reception for photos which was great.  It was our first time working with Joe & JP from Joe Elario Photography and we had a blast.  They captured some absolutely amazing images of Jivon & Anthony that you must check out if you haven’t already seen them (click here).

The reception room at Saratoga National was beautiful - decked out with all white flowers with a splash of gold accent on the tables.  Once the guests entered, you could tell it would be a fun wedding.  It was in the air.  Mike Garrasi from Music Man Entertainment guided the party - from the intros, to the toasts, to the non-stop dancing where every generation took to the floor.  We also got to see a former bride, a future bride, and my favorite guest/bridesmaid/MOH, Alison - who was also my golf cart chauffeur during the photoshoot. (Thanks again!)

Jivon & Anthony ended the night with a special song where everyone joined them on the dance floor.  The crowd followed it up with chants of “one more song” for the party they didn’t want to end.

Jacquelyn & Carlos - Wedding Highlights

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Jacquelyn (Jackie) is my cousin’s daughter.  I remember when she was born, and over the years have watched her grow up from an adorable little girl to a beautiful young woman who is now a wife and mother.  Boy, do I feel old!

So, on the day summer decided to finally knock on our door here in upstate New York, Jackie and Carlos tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony at Eagle Crest Golf Club.  The ceremony didn’t start until 5:30pm, but it was still so hot that most of the guests avoided the chairs set up in the sun and opted to stand in the shade provided by the building and some nearby trees (I wish I could have been there too).  After the ceremony everyone went inside to cool down, except for the bridal party of course.  They had pictures to take.  The photographer, Michael Conway, got the formals done quick (thank you!) then later brought Jackie & Carlos back outside for a few more pix as the sun started to set giving us some beautiful light to work with (check out the placeholder for the video below).

During the first dance, when the bridal party joined in, Jackie & Carlos’ daughter, Adrianna,  joined them on the dance floor.   Have I mentioned how cute this little girl is?  Check out her giggle in the video - so adorable.  Later in the evening, Jackie and her mom had a special dance where they had all the other mothers and daughters join them on the dance floor - not something I see at very many weddings, but very sweet.  Big Daddy Ray’s DJ Service provided the entertainment and kept the dance floor moving all night.

Oh yeah, gotta mention the flowers.   They were done by a good friend of mine - Michelle VanSchaick of Parties and Petals (partiesandpetals@hotmail.com).  She is amazingly talented, awesome to work with, and gets almost as excited about weddings as I do.

Here is the highlight video from Jackie & Carlos’ August 2009 wedding.  Feel free to leave comments for the happy couple.

PS:   Jackie - It’s not a pony, but I hope you enjoy this just as much. :-)

Lindsay & Matthew - Reception Highlights

Monday, September 7th, 2009

I decided to post a clip of Lindsay & Matt’s reception montage since I had so much fun making it.  Inspired by her nephews, Jared & Cameron, see if you can figure out why I can’t listen to this song anymore without thinking of them.

Lindsay & Matthew - Wedding Highlights

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Lindsay and Matt are a little crazy, a little goofy, total hams and so much fun.  Once the formal ceremony at St. Michael’s in Cohoes was over, that was it.  Lindsay spent the rest of the day either laughing, dancing or singing to Matt.  And even though Matt broke his ankle a few days before the wedding, he didn’t let that stop him.  He danced, he skipped (yes, skipped) and he begged for a ride on a scooter - they wouldn’t stop though.

The photo shoot with Sharon & Kristen from Captured Moments by Sharon Mahar was a blast.  The bridal party was totally into it and Lindsay and Matt hardly needed any direction - they were even coming up with their own poses.  The reception took place at the Franklin Plaza where the colors for the day were black and pink.  Lindsay incorporated them into all the printed materials - invitations, programs, seating chart, menus, placecards, card box - you name it - and, she designed them all herself (it helps that she’s a graphic designer).

The DJs were Matt and Pat from Original Sounds by S&S.  They had a great set up, and lit up the dance floor for us - not only with their awesome lighting system, but with the music they played.  Lindsay dedicated a song to her parents who celebrated their 40th anniversary earlier in the year, her nephews tore it up to “Boom Boom Pow” (I can’t listen to that song anymore without thinking of the two of them) and Matt, with his ankle, was even doing a one footed dance to “Footloose”.  And, to top it all off, Lindsay’s brother and cousin started sandwiching unsuspecting people on the dance floor to “What Is Love” a la “Night at the Roxbury”.  I took my eyes off of them for a second and they even got me!

What a great party!  I can’t wait to see everyone again at Jaclyn’s wedding (Lindsay’s sister) in October.  Owwwww!

Here is the highlight video from their June 2009 wedding.  Feel free to leave comments for the happy couple.  Enjoy!
