When I arrived at her parent’s house, Maria was ready - she just had to get into her dress. She was totally calm. Then I started filming and the photographers arrived and started shooting. That’s when it changed - when it hit her that it was really happening.
The ceremony was held at the St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at Siena College. Maria’s father walked her down the aisle to where Elois (aka Bubba) was waiting for her. Everything went according to plan and after they were pronounced husband and wife, everyone headed to the Franklin Plaza for the reception.
After a quick nighttime photo session with Matt and Jamaica from Matt Ramos Photography, the party started. Chris from Cool Cat Entertainment introduced the bridal party and the Franklin Plaza staff lit up the room with sparklers as Maria & Bubba entered the room. Side notes: Matt worked on his birthday for this wedding - what dedication; and he has already posted some awesome photos from Maria & Bubba’s weddding on his blog - check them out here.
Maria decided to put a twist on the bouquet/garter toss tradition. Instead of inviting up all the single ladies, she had all the married ladies meet on the dance floor. She tossed the bouquet and the lucky recipient’s husband had to put the garter on her. They were such good sports - especially for being married for 37 years. The rest of the night was filled with dancing to current hits, oldies but goodies, and the chicken dance (which was dedicated to Maria’s grandmother). The night ended to “Last Dance” which started with a group hug on the dance floor and ended with everyone having a great time.
Here is Maria & Bubba’s highlight video from their September 2009 wedding. Feel free to leave comments for the happy couple!
