Lindsay & Matthew - Wedding Highlights

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Lindsay and Matt are a little crazy, a little goofy, total hams and so much fun.  Once the formal ceremony at St. Michael’s in Cohoes was over, that was it.  Lindsay spent the rest of the day either laughing, dancing or singing to Matt.  And even though Matt broke his ankle a few days before the wedding, he didn’t let that stop him.  He danced, he skipped (yes, skipped) and he begged for a ride on a scooter - they wouldn’t stop though.

The photo shoot with Sharon & Kristen from Captured Moments by Sharon Mahar was a blast.  The bridal party was totally into it and Lindsay and Matt hardly needed any direction - they were even coming up with their own poses.  The reception took place at the Franklin Plaza where the colors for the day were black and pink.  Lindsay incorporated them into all the printed materials - invitations, programs, seating chart, menus, placecards, card box - you name it - and, she designed them all herself (it helps that she’s a graphic designer).

The DJs were Matt and Pat from Original Sounds by S&S.  They had a great set up, and lit up the dance floor for us - not only with their awesome lighting system, but with the music they played.  Lindsay dedicated a song to her parents who celebrated their 40th anniversary earlier in the year, her nephews tore it up to “Boom Boom Pow” (I can’t listen to that song anymore without thinking of the two of them) and Matt, with his ankle, was even doing a one footed dance to “Footloose”.  And, to top it all off, Lindsay’s brother and cousin started sandwiching unsuspecting people on the dance floor to “What Is Love” a la “Night at the Roxbury”.  I took my eyes off of them for a second and they even got me!

What a great party!  I can’t wait to see everyone again at Jaclyn’s wedding (Lindsay’s sister) in October.  Owwwww!

Rachel & David - Wedding Highlights

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Rachel & David grew up on opposite ends of the state.  It wasn’t until their second year of college at SUNY Albany that they finally met - and fell in love.  Fast forward 10 years, after David proposed on the Brooklyn Bridge, and here we are - on a beautiful Sunday in July at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga to celebrate their wedding.  This was our third wedding of that particular weekend and was another great one.

The weather was perfect - sunshine, blue sky, slight breeze.  Rachel & David chose to do a first look - when they see each other prior to the ceremony.  It’s such a great moment - to see each other before everyone else sees you and before the tears start streaming.  A lot of couples want to be able to enjoy the cocktail hour, so it’s a great opportunity to get some of the pictures out of the way too.  Brian and Paul of McGarry Photography were there to capture the day and this moment with us.

At the ceremony, the ring bearer was brought down the aisle in a wagon - he was sooooo cute.  David made everyone laugh when he made sure to annunciate the word “wife” during the ring exchange - and he was able to break the glass on one try (after warming up a bit of course).  It’s all in the highlight video below.

At the reception, the newlyweds were announced and went right into their first dance.  Rachel came in with a new hairdo for the party - kind of a low up-do on the side - very pretty.  After some touching, emotional, funny toasts, the party started and the NY Players got the place jumping.   There was a dessert table (with ice cream!) and a candy bar where guests could fill up goody bags (love those!).  Rachel’s colors were brown and blue, and the elegant bouquets and flowers that decorated the hall were by Fleurtacious Designs.

Erica & Kevin - Wedding Highlights

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Erica & Kevin’s wedding was the second in our busy July weekend. They were married at St. Mary’s in Ballston Spa and held their reception at the Colonie Golf & Country Club.  Erica’s hair and make up were perfect and her dress was right out of a fairy tale - she was absolutely stunning.  The guys didn’t disappoint either with their black on black tuxes and green apple vests.

Some of the highlights from the reception:

  • Kevin’s father sang the song for the mother/son dance
  • The table centerpieces used green apples as votive holders, the candy bar was stocked with green candies, and the bar featured “Vandertinis” (in honor of the newlyweds)
  • In addition to the best man and maid of honor toasts, the bridesmaids and Erica’s brothers also spoke - it was very touching
  • Two of our future couples were there as well as a future maid of honor (can’t wait for those weddings!)
  • We got to work with the same photographer (Precious Memories by Dina) and DJ (Dan and Mike from Total Entertainment of Albany) from a wedding last November

Angela & Matthew - Wedding Highlights

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

In July, we had the pleasure of filming three incredible weddings in one weekend.  Angela & Matt’s was wedding #1 of that weekend and the only one that it rained on.  The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of anyone though.  They were even able to get pictures taken outside thanks to the awning at the entrance to the Franklin Plaza and the ever brilliant Paul Saunders who braved the rain (under an umbrella of course) to get the shots.

Angela & Matt are such a fun couple.  You could tell from the moment that Angela walked down the aisle and stuck her tongue out at Matt that it was going to be a great night.  The couple even had some surprises planned for their guests.  For the introductions, they walked in to a mix of cheers and jeers as they came in wearing Red Sox (Matt) and Yankees (Angela) jerseys.  Then, after their first dance, they treated everyone to a second choreographed dance to Baby Got Back.  What a way to get the party started!  Brian Austin from First Class Entertainment kept it going for the rest of the night - even getting out on the dance floor to show the guests a thing or two - not that he really needed to with this party crowd.  FotoMagic was also at the reception providing photo magnet keepsakes for everyone  - and the booth was packed all night long.
